دَجَاجَةٌ ، وَضُفْدَعْ ، وَأَرتَبٌ ثَلَاثَةٌ منَ الْأَصْدقاء. ولكن كُلُّ
مِنْهُمْ لَا يُحِبُّ إِلَّا نَفْسَهُ فَقَط وَلَا يُخْلِصُ فِي صَدَاقَته
للْآخَرينَ كَانَتِ الدَّجَاجَةُ تَمْشي بالْمَزْرَعَة فَوَجَدَتْ .
جَرَةُ اقتربت الدَّجَاجَةُ نَادَتْ قَائِلَةً: هَلْ يَسْكُنُ هُنَا أَحَدًى
وَحِينَمَا لَمْ تَجِدْ جَوَابًا دَخَلَتْ إِلَى الْجَرَةِ, وَهِيَ تَقُولُ إِذَنْ
سَيَكُونُ هَذَا هُوَ بَيْتِي َو لَنْ أُخْبِرَ أَحَدًا مِنْ أَصْدِقَائي
حَتَّى لا يُشاركونى فيه.
وَمَرَّ الضَّفْدَعِ فَوَجَدَ الْجَرَةَ قَالَ : إِذَنْ سَأَسْكُنُ أَنَا فِي
:
هَذَا الْمَكَان وَالآنَ سَأقفرُ بَعْضَ القفزات داخلَ الْجَرَّة.
وَقَدَمي مَليئة بالطين حَتَّى يُصْبحَ هَذَا عَلَامَة عَلَى أَنَّ
هَذَا الْمَكَانَ هُوَ بَيْتي.
وَبَعْدَ أَنِ انْتَهَى الضَّفْدَعْ مِنْ ذلِكَ انْصَرَف. ثُمَّ مَرَّ الْأَرْتَبُ
منَ الْمَكَانِ وَشَاهَدَ الجَرَّةَ وَقَالَ فِي نَفْسِهِ : سَأَسْكُنُ أَنَا
فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ إِنَّ مَعِي بَعْضَ الطَّعَامِ, سَأَتْرُكُهُ هنا
حَتَّى يَكُونَ دَلِيلا عَلَى أَنَّ هَذَا بَيْتي.
عَادَتِ الدَّجَاجَةُ بطعَامِهَا لِتَجْلِسَ فِي الْجَرَّةِ, وَلَكِنَّهَا
جنَتْ بِوُجُود الطَّعَام الَّذى تَرَكَهُ الْأَرْتَبُ. وَفُوجنَتْ
يْضًا بِعَلَامَاتِ الطِّينَ مَكَانَ أَقْدَامِ الضُّفْدَع؛ وَبرَغْم
دَهْشَة الدَّجَاجَة, إِلَّا أَنَّهَا قَرَّرَت الْبَقَاءَ بداخلَ الْجَرَّة.
جَاءَ الضُّفْدَعُ وَفُوجئ بوُجُودِهَا وَبَعْدَ دَقَائِقَ أُخْرَى جَاءَ
الْأَرْتَبُ وَفُوجئ بوجودهما فِي الْجَرَةِ. أَخَذَتِ الدَّجَاجَةُ
تَصْرُخُ هَذه جرتِي وَصَرَخَ الضُّفْدَعُ بَلْ هِيَ جَرَتِي
وَصَرَخَ الأرنب قائلا: بَل هِيَ جَرَتي.
وَأَثْنَاء صُرَاحْهِمْ مَرَّ ظَبْي بِالْمَكَانِ, وَسَأَلَهُمْ عَنْ سَبَبٍ
صُراخهمْ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ بالأَمْرِ ؛ عندَ ذَلكَ أَخَذَ الظَّبْي يُفَكِّرثُمَّ قَالَ
لَهُم إذنْ اخْرُجُوا جَمِيعًا مِنَ الْجَرَةِ وَسَأَحُلُّ لَكُمْ هَذه الْمُشْكِلَةَ .
الظَّبْيُ وَحَمَلَ الْجَرَةَ بِقَرْنِهِ ثُمَّ أَلْقَاهَا بِقُوَّة عَلَى
الأَرْضِ فَانْكَسَرَتْ قَالَ لَهُمُ الظَّبْي مَادَامَ كل منكـ
لَا يُحِبُّ إِلَّا نَفْسَهُ فَلَا يَسْتَحقُ أَحَدٌ هَذَا السَّكَنَ فَكَر
الْأَصْدِقَاءَ الثَّلَاثَةُ ثُمَّ تَأَكَّدُوا أَنَّ الظَّبْيَ عَلَى حَقٌّ
