استيقظت رغده من نومها مبكرة واسرعت تغسل وجهها وتنظف اسنانها ثم بللت يديها بالماء الدافيء وبرغوة الصابونة الوفيرة اخذت تدعكها ببعضها بقوة وخاصة بين الاصابع وعند الاظافر ثم شطفتهما بالماء جيدا وجففتهما بمنديل ورقي والقته في سلة المهملات
قال رامى الصغير لاخته رغده : ما اجمل فقاقيع الصابون على يديك اريد ان العب مثلك ضحكت رغده وقالت : انا لا العب بالصابون اننى استعمله لنظافه الوجه واليدين ولقد شرحت لنا المعلمة ان الصحة كنز ثمين ومفتاحه هو النظافة لانها تقضى على الميكروبات الضارة التى تسبب لنا الامراض
تجولت المعلمة بين صفوف تليمذاتها الصغيرات وهى تشعر بالسعادة انها تشم رائحة النظافة فكلهن يرتدين الملابس النظيفة وشعورهن تلمع من النظافه ويجلسن منتبهات لدروسهن في ثقه ونشاط ولكنها لمحت تلميذتها نهال قد تركت مقعدها بجوار صديقتها رغده لتجلس وحيدة في اخر الفصل وهى تحاول ان تتواري عن الانظار
سألت المعلمة رغده عن سبب تغير حال نهال فهى كثيرة الغياب واذا جاءت تأتى متأخرة ومتسخه الثياب ، قالت رغده: على الرغم من انها صديقتى وانا احبها الا اننى افرح لغيابها فالروائح الكريهه تفوح من اسنانها وما اقبح شعرها ونزلات البرد دائما ملازمة لها وهذا ليس رأيي وحدى فالجميع يبتعد عنها ولا يلعب معها قالت المعلمة: اذن يجب ان نزورها
ذهبت المعلمة مع رغده لزيارة نهال في بيتها لتطمئن على حالها فوجدتها مريضة وفي حال يرثى لها وجدتها نائمه في سريرها واطعمه مكشوفه بجوارها وملابسها مبعثرة في كل مكان سألتها المعلمة عما حدث لها ؟ قالت نهال: ان امها هى من كانت تقوم بتنظيف شعرها وغسل ملابسها واطعامها ولكنها مشغولة هذه الايام بعملها
تحدثت المعلمة مع نهال ثم انصرفت ، بكت نهال كثيرا عندما نظرت في المرآه ورأت قبح شكلها فكرت في كلمات معلمتها حيث قالت لها : لا تغضبي من امك فهى تتعب من اجلك يجب ان تعتمدى على نفسك هيا الان نظفي شعرك واغسلي وجهك ونظفي غرفتك ولا تتنازلى تلك الاطعمة المكشوفة فهى السبب في مرضك
قفزت نهال من سريرها وذهبت الى حمامها نزفت شعرها وقصت اظافرها وغسلت ملابسها وقامت بتنظيف غرفتها وترتيبها ثم قامت بتنظيف غرفه معيشتها وغرفه ابيها وامها وعندما عادا من عملهاكانت المفاجاة السعيدة في انتظارهما انها طفلتهما الجميلة التى خرجت من كسلها وشفيت من مرضها
دخلت نهال الى فصلها والسعادة ظاهرة على وجهها فهى تبدو مشرقة ملابسها نظيفه وانيقه شعرها رائع ورائحتها جميلة جلست بثقه بين الصديقات رغده في سعادة وهناء واحبت نهال النظافة وحرصت دائما عليها فنالت اعجاب الجميع ولقبوها بملكة النظافة والجمال
Raghda woke up early and hurriedly washed her face and brushed her teeth, then wet her hands with warm water and a plentiful lather of soap. She rubbed them together vigorously, especially between the fingers and at the nails, then rinsed them well with water and dried them with a tissue and threw it in the trash.

The teacher went with Raghda to visit Nihal in her house to check on her condition and found her sick and in a pitiful condition she found her sleeping in her bed and feeding him uncovered next to her and her clothes scattered everywhere. The teacher asked her what happened to her? Nihal said: It was her mother who used to clean her hair, wash her clothes and feed her, but she is busy these days with her work.
The teacher spoke with Nihal and then left. Nihal cried a lot when she looked in the mirror and saw the ugliness of her appearance. I thought of her teacher's words, where she said to her: Do not be angry with your mother, she is tired for you. The exposed is the cause of your illness
Nihal jumped out of her bed and went to her bathroom. She bled her hair, cut her nails, washed her clothes, cleaned her room and arranged it, then cleaned her living room and her father's and mother's room, and when they returned from work, a happy surprise awaited them. It was their beautiful child who came out of her laziness and recovered from her illness
Nihal entered her class and happiness is visible on her face. She looks radiant, her clothes are clean and elegant, her hair is wonderful, and she smells beautiful. She sits confidently among the friends. Raghda is happy and contented. Nihal loves cleanliness and has always been keen on it, so she won the admiration of everyone and they called her the Queen of Cleanliness and Beauty
