كَانَ دَبدوب كثِير الأكل، وكان يَجْلِسُ بمُفرَدِهِ بَعِيدًا عَنْ
الأصدقاء يَأْكُلُ طَعَامَهُ وَحْدَهُ، وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْه.
وَفي يَوْم كَانَ دَبدوب يَأكُلُ طَعَامَهُ وَحْدَهُ، فَجَاءَ إِلَيْهِ
أرْنُوبُ يَطلُبُ مِنْهُ قِطْعَةً جَزَر لِيَاكُلَهَا لأَنَّهُ جَائِعَ،
فرفض دبدوب
فَحَزَنَ أَرْنُوبُ مِنْ بَخْل دَبدوب وَحَكَى لِلأَصْدِقَاءِ مَا
حَدَثَ، فَقَرَرَ الْأَصْدِقَاءَ أَنْ يَتْرَكُوا دَبْدُوبَ وَحِيدًا وَلَا
يَلْعَبُوا مَعَهُ لِأَنَّهُ بَخِيلَ، وَالْبُخْلُ سُلوك سَيْيٌّ.
جَلسَ دَبدوب البخيل يأكل الطعامَ وَحْدَهُ ، وَكَانَ
الثَّعْلَب المكارُ يُرَاقِبُهُ مِنْ خَلْفِ الأَشْجَار.
قال التَّعْلَبُ المكارُ : مَعَ دَبدوب طَعَامَ كَثِيرُ سَأهْجم
عَلَيْهِ وَآخَذُهُ مِنْهُ وَآكلهُ وَحَدِي..
هَجَمَ ثَعْلُوبُ عَلَى دَبدوب وَخَطَفَ طَعَامَهُ وَهَرَبَ بَعِيدًا،
فَجَلسَ دَبدوبُ يَبْكِي وَحِيدًا.
عَرَفَ دَبْدُوبُ أَنْ يُخْلَهُ أَبْعَدَ أصْدِقَاءَهُ عَنْهُ فَقَرْرَ أَنْ
يُشارِك طَعَامَهُ مَعَ كل الأصْدِقَاءِ وَلم يَعُدْ يَجْلِسُ
وَحِيدًا، وَأَصْبَحَ الأَصْدِقَاءُ يُنَادُونَهُ دَبْدُوبُ الكريم.
