استيقظ محمد وطارق مبكرين كالعادة وتوضأ وصليا الصبح مع الجد حسين ثم تناولا وجبه الافطار مع جدهما وطلبا منه ان يخرجا للعب في الحديقه امام المنزل وكانا قبل اللعب يقومان بري الاشجار وتنظيف الحديقة
وكانت هناك شجرة كبيرة دائما يلعبان تحتها وبجلسان ويستظلان باوراقها الكثيفه ويرسم كل واحد منهما على لوحته صورة من الطبيعة بالوانه الخشبية وبعد يوم طويل من اللعب والمرح ذهب كل منهما الى النوم في سعادة وسرور
وفي صباح اليوم التالي استيقظا محمد وطارق مبكرين كالعادة، ونظر محمد من النافذة فوجد شيئا غريبا ، وجد كل الاشجار المحيطة بالمنزل قد قطعت ولم يتبقى في الشارع الا الشجرة الكبيرة وبعض الاشجار الصغيرة الاخرى فحزن حزنا شديدا وصرخ ينادي على اخيه طارق ونزلا سويا وجلسا تحت صديقتهما الشجرة وفي ذهنهما اسئله كثير؟؟؟
وفي هذه اللحظات سمعا صوتا غريبا داخل صديقتهما الشجرة يقول لهما هيا هيا ادخلا عندي انا صديقتكما الشجرة فنظر الى الشجرة فوجد ان لها بابا مفتوحا، فدخلا منه وفجأة ظهر نور ابيض اضاء كل الشجرة من الداخل وظهر لون اخضر جميل تجري فوقه قطرات من الماء مثل قطرات المطر
ثم سمعا صوتا يقول لهما : اهلا يااصدقائي الصغار انا صديقتمنا الشجرة اسمى جذور وقد احضرتكما هنا بداخلى لكى اجيب على اسئلتكما الكثيرة واقول لكما لماذا تم قطع هذه الاشجار !!! ولكي تساعداني قبل ان اقطع انا ايضا ، وعندما سافقتد سعادتي بكما وانتما تلعبان وتمرحان حولى كل يوم، وهنا تنهدت الشجرة بحزن عميق وقالت: لقد شاهدتهما
ما حدث لصديقاتي الاشجار فلقد امر حاكم المدينة بقطعهن من اجل توسيع الشوارع وهو يظن انه يقطع قطعا من الخشب لا تحيا ولا تشعر ولا يدري انه يقطع اشجارا تعيش وتتنفس وتشرب الماء لتنمو وتظلل على الناس وتنقي لهم الهواء
وهنا قال طارق : نعم الاشجار تمتص ثاني اكسيد الكربون الضار وتخرج لنا ولكل الكائنات الحية الاةكسجين اللازم للحياة، وهنا قال محمد: غير ان الاشجار ياطارق تضم بين فروعها الكثير من اعشاش الطيور الذين يحتمون بها وايضا فان اوراق الشجر المتساقطة تكون مفيدة للتربة بعد تحللها فقالت الشجرة : كل هذا صحيح يااصدقائي واتمنى ان تساعدانى لان حاكم المدينة سيقوم بقطع باقي الاشجار غدا في الصباح
وهنا سمع طارق صوت العصفور زقزوق الذى يقف فوق سور النافذة كل صباح ويغرد بصوته العذب الجميل ، فابتسم طارق قائلا: اطمئني سنساعدك ان شاء الله وهنا فتح باب الشجرة من جديد وخرجا محمد وطارق مسرعين الى جدهما حسين ينادونه من بعيد ياجدي فخرج الجد حسين منزعجا وهو يقول : ماذا حدث يااحبابي فرد محمد قائلا : ارايت ياجدي هذه الاشجار المقطوعة ؟
فقال الجد لمحمد : نعم رايتهما ياولدى فقال طارق : وماذا فعلت ياجدي؟ فرد الجد قائلا: لقد ذهبنا في الصباح الباكر انا ومجموعة من اهالي المدينة الى الحاكم وقمنا بتقديم شكوى للاعتراض على قطع هذه الاشجار
ووضحنا ان توسيع الشوارع لا يفيدنا بقدر ما تفيدنا هذه الاشجار وفي تلك الليلة بات محمد وطارق في قلق شديد على صديقتهما الشجرة جذور وفي الصباح جاء العصفور زقزوق يغرد كعادته ويتحرك ذهابا وايابا لا يهدأ ويغرد بصوت مرتفع جدا وكانه خائف من شيء ما فشعر محمد وطارق بصوته وكانه ناقوس انذار، وان صديقتهما الشجرة جذور في خطر فانطلقا مسرعين ومعهم العصفور زقزوق الى صديقتهم الشجرة فوجدا حاكم المدينة ومعه بعض الرجال ليقطعوا باقي الاشجار فاسرع محمد وطارق الى جدهما حسين قائلا وهما يبكيان : ان الحاكم لم يلتفت الى لشكوى التى قدمتموها بالامس ياجدي
فاسرع الجد حسين بالخروج معترضا على قطع الاشجار واسرع محمد وطارق الى المنازل المجاورة لهما لايقاظ الجيران وبالفعل تجمعت الاهالي واعترضوا على ما سيقوم به الحاكم ومن معه ووقف محمد وطارق عند صديقتهما الشجرة جذور يحتناها بشدة، احتجاجا على قطع الاشجار نظر الحاكم الى محمد وطارق واقترب منهما مندهشا لبكائهما الشديد واحتضناهما لتلك الشجرة فنظرا اليه قائلين له في بكاء شديد : نرجوك لا تقطع هذه الاشجار نرجوك لا تقطعها
وتعالت اصواتهما بالبكاء : وهنا قال الحاكم لهما: لا تخافا لا تخافا لن اقوم بقطع الاشجار وبالفعل امر الحاكم بمنع قطع باقي الاشجار واممر بزراعة اشجار جديدة بدلا من التى قطعت وفرح محمد وطارق والعصفور زقزوق فرحا شديدا واخذوا يدورون حول صديقتهم الشجرة جذور في سعادة وسرور وفرح كل اهالى المدينة بعدم قطع الاشجار وبات الكل في سعادة وهناء

The next morning, Muhammad and Tariq woke up early as usual, and Muhammad looked out the window and found something strange. He found that all the trees around the house had been cut down, and there was nothing left in the street except the big tree and some other small trees, so he grieved very sadly and screamed for his brother Tariq and they went down together and sat under their friend the tree And in their minds many questions???
At these moments, they heard a strange voice inside their friend the tree, saying to them, “Come on, come in. I am your friend of the tree.” He looked at the tree and found that it had an open door, so they entered from it and suddenly a white light appeared that lit the whole tree from the inside, and a beautiful green color appeared on it, with drops of water running over it like raindrops.
Then they heard a voice saying to them: Hello, my little friends, I am a friend of the tree, my name is Roots, and I brought you two here inside me to answer your many questions and tell you why these trees were cut!!! And for you to help me before I cut myself too, and when I lose my happiness with you two playing and having fun around me every day, and here the tree sighed with deep sadness and said: I saw them
What happened to my tree friends, the governor of the city ordered their cut down in order to widen the streets, and he thinks that he is cutting pieces of wood that do not live or feel and do not know that he is cutting trees that live, breathe and drink water to grow and shade the people and purify the air for them
Here, Tariq said: Yes, trees absorb harmful carbon dioxide and release to us and all living creatures the oxygen necessary for life. Here, Muhammad said: However, trees, Tariq, include among their branches many nests of birds who take shelter in them. Also, the fallen leaves are useful for the soil after its decomposition. The tree said : All this is true my friends and I hope you will help me because the governor of the city will cut down the rest of the trees tomorrow morning
Here, Tariq heard the sound of the bird Zaqzouq, who stands above the wall of the window every morning and sings in his sweet, beautiful voice. Tariq smiled and said: Rest assured, we will help you, God willing. Here the door of the tree opened again, and Muhammad and Tariq came out rushing to their grandfather Hussein calling him from afar, Grandfather Hussein came out upset and said : What happened, my beloved? Muhammad replied, “See you, my grandfather, these cut trees?
The grandfather said to Muhammad: Yes, I saw them, my son. Tariq said: What did you do, Grandfather? The grandfather replied, "In the early morning, I and a group of city people went to the governor and filed a complaint to object to the cutting of these trees."
We explained that widening the streets does not benefit us as much as these trees benefit us. On that night, Muhammad and Tariq became very worried about their friend. The tree had roots. In the morning, the bird came chirping, tweeting as usual, moving back and forth, restless and singing very loudly, as if he was afraid of something, so Muhammad and Tariq felt his voice. An alarm went off, and that their friend the tree had roots in danger, so they ran with the bird chirping to their friend the tree, and they found the governor of the city and with him some men to cut down the rest of the trees, so Muhammad and Tariq hurried to their grandfather Hussein, saying while they were crying: The ruler did not heed the complaint that you submitted yesterday, Grandfather.
Grandfather Hussein rushed out, protesting the cutting of trees, and Muhammad and Tariq hurried to the houses next to them to wake up the neighbors. Indeed, the people gathered and protested what the ruler and those with him would do. Muhammad and Tariq stood at their friend’s tree, with roots tightly hugging them, in protest against the cutting of trees. Because of their intense crying and hugged them to that tree, they looked at him and said to him in heavy tears: We beg you not to cut down these trees. We beg you not to cut them down.
Their voices rose in tears: and here the ruler said to them: Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, I will not cut down the trees. Indeed, the ruler ordered the prevention of cutting the rest of the trees and ordered the planting of new trees instead of the ones that were cut. Muhammad, Tariq and the bird chirped with great joy. The people of the city did not cut down trees, and everyone became happy and contented
