كانت غابة السندس من أجمل الغابات، وكان كل من يزورها يتمنى العيش
بها والتمتع بجمالها وهوائها المنعش ونهرها الصافي
وكان سكانها من الحيوانات والطيور يشعرون بالفخر لأن غابة السندس
هي وطنهم.
ظن أهل غابة السندس أنها ستظل على جمالها ولن تتغير أبداً، فبدأوا
يتصرفون دون حرص ودون أن يشعروا أن هذا سيؤذي وطنهم، فكان
منهم من يقطع الأشجار ليستخدم خشبها في إشعال النار، وكان منهم من
يلقي المخلفات في النهر، ومنهم من كان يقطف الورد ليهادي به أقاربه
وأحبائه.
وبعد فترة تغير شكل الغابة؛ فقلت أشجارها وزهورها وأصبح هواؤها جافاً
وحاراً، وأصبحت مياه النهر عكرة ولا تصلح للشرب، وقلت الخيرات، وبدأ
أهل الغابة يشعرون بالفقر والحزن.
خرج معظم أهل الغابة ليعملوا في الغابات المجاورة، ويحصلوا على
الطعام، لكن أهل الغابات الأخرى كانوا يعاملونهم مثل الخدم؛ فلم يشعروا
بالسعادة معهم

اجتمع بعض أهل غابة السندس يتحدثون عما أصبحوا فيه من سوء
الحال.
قال الدب: نحن السبب فيما أصبحنا فيه .. نحن أفسدنا وطننا بأنفسنا
قال النمر: لن نظل نبكي على ما فات.. لقد عرفنا خطأنا ويجب أن نجد
حلا لمشكلتنا.
قالت السلحفاة : لابد من العودة
رددت الحيوانات في صوت واحد العودة ؟ وكيف هذا ؟!!
قال الدب : نعود لمكان لم يعد صالحاً للحياة ؟!
قالت السلحفاة : علينا أن نعيد تعمير الغابة، نزرعها ونعيد إليها جمالها.
أعجبت الحيوانات بفكرة السلحفاة.
قالت الزرافة : هذا شيء رائع، ولكن هذا سيحتاج منا مجهود ووقت، ونحن
مشغولون بالعمل في الغابة المجاورة للحصول على الغذاء.
قالت السلحفاة : سنقسم أنفسنا مجموعتين؛ المجموعة الأولى تعمل في
الغابة المجاورة وتحصل على الغذاء للجميع، والمجموعة الثانية تذهب
لغابتنا وتعيد تعميرها.
قال الدب : إنها فكرة جيدة حقا يجب ألا نضيع الوقت.. هيا بنا نبدأ.
وبالفعل نفذت الحيوانات الفكرة وبدأت غابة السندس تعود لما كانت
عليه من جمال
ومرت شهور تعب خلالها الجميع، لكن في النهاية عادت غابة السندس
لجمالها، وعاد سكانها إليها .
وأقام سكان الغابة احتفالاً بهيجاً بمناسبة عودتهم لوطنهم ، واتفقوا
جميعاً على الحفاظ على جمال غابتهم وعدم الوقوع في الأخطاء السابقة
حتى يظل وطنهم أجمل الأوطان
