عَاشَ رَجُلٌ فَقِيرٌ مَعَ زَوجَته، وذَاتَ مَسَاء طَلَبَتْ
منْهُ َشرَاءَ مشط لشعرها الطويل حتَّى َيظُلَّ
أَنيقًا، فَنَظَرَ إلَيْها بحُزْن، وقَالَ لها: لا َأسْتَطِيعُ
ذَلكَ، فَسَاعَتِي تَحْتَاجُ لَشريط من الجلد ولا
أَسْتَطِيعُ شَرَاءَهُ.
منْهُ َشرَاءَ مشط لشعرها الطويل حتَّى َيظُلَّ

ابْتَسَمَت الزوْجَةُ في وَجْه زَوْجِهَا ولَمْ تُجَادِلْهُ
بكَلمَة، وفي اليَوْمِ التَّالي ذَهَبَ إلى السُّوقِ وبَاءَ
سَاعَتَهُ بثَمَن قَليل، واشْتَرَى المشط الذي طَلَبَتْهُ
زَوْجَتُهُ.

وكلاهُمَا أَرَادَ تَحقيقَ رَغْبَة الآخر
بالدُّمُوعِ، لَيْسَ لأَنَّ مَا فعلاهُ جَاءَ بلا فائدة
ولكنْ لأنّهُمَا أَحَبَّا بَعضَهُمَا بنَفْس الدرَجَة
وكلاهُمَا أَرَادَ تَحقيقَ رَغْبَة الآخر
عندما يُعبِّرُ لَكَ الآخَرُ عَنْ حُبّهِ وتَفْرَحَ بذلك،
اعْلَمُ أن الآخر يفرح أيضا عندما يتأكد بأنَّكَ
تُبَادِلُهُ نَفْسَ الشعور.
