كَانَ فَلَا فِيلُو يَنْظُرُ إلى الطيور في السَّمَاءِ عِندَمَا سَألَهُ دُنْجُلُ: لماذا
تَنْظُرُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ يَا فَلَا فِيلُو؟
قَالَ فَلَا فِيلُو: أَتَمَنَّى أَنْ أَصْبحَ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ الطُّيُور وَأَطِيرُ في السَّمَاء.
وَبِالْفِعْل صَعَدَ إِلَى أَعْلَى الْحَظِيرَةِ وَقَفَرُ مِنْ فَوْقِهَا مُحاولا الطَّيَرَانَ،
وَلَكِنَّهُ سَقَطَ عَلَى الأَرْض.
وفي اليَوْمِ التَّالِي كان فلافيلو يَجْلِسَ عِندَ البَحَيْرَةِ يَتَمَنَّى
أَن يُصبح مثل السمكة ، وقَفَرُ في البحيرة وحاول العوم مثل
الأسْمَاكِ ولكنه لم ينجح، وكاد يغرق لولا أن دنجل أنقذه.
ذَهَبَ فَلَا فِيلُو إِلَى الْغَابَةِ وَحَاوَلَ أَنْ يَقْفِزَ فَوْقَ أَغْصَانِ الشَّجَر
مِثْلَ الْقُرُودِ وَلَكِنَّ الْغُصْنَ الْكَسَرَ بهِ فَسَقَطَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ.

فَيَجبُ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تَأكُل مِثْلَهُمْ. عَلِمَ فَلا فيلو أنَّه كان مُخْطِئًا وَأَنْهُ
يَجبُ أَنْ يَرْضَى بِنَفْسِهِ كَمَا خَلَقَهُ الله وَلَا يَتَمَنِّى غَيْرَ ذَلكَ.
