يحكى أن
وقفت العصفورة على الشجرة وأخذت تنظر الى الفيل الكبير الذي يجلس حزينا ثم قالت له : لماذا اراك حزينا هكذا ايها الفيل ؟
قال لها الفيل : في الحقيقة ايتها العصفورة اننى حزين لان حجمي كبير جدا واشعر بأنني اعيش بدون فائدة
كلما فكرت في هذا الامر فإن حزني يزيد وأتساءل كثيرا : لماذا لم يخلقني الله مثلك ؟ طائر خفيف الحركة يذهب بسرعة الى اى مكان ، لماذا لا اكون اى حيوان اخر من الحيوانات الاقل وزنا والاخف حركة؟
وفي هذا الوقت جاءت بعض الحيوانات فعرفوا بما قاله الفيل فقال له احد الحيوانات : لا تحزن ايها الفيل الكبير فكل حيوان لابد ان له فائدة سواء كان كبيرا او صغيرا وسواء كان سريع الحركة او بطيئا ، ظل الفيل الكبير على حزنه ولم يقتنع بكلام باقي الحيوانات له
وفي أحد الايام كان المطر شديدا والبرد قارصا فأسرع الكثير من الحيوانات بالاختباء في مغارة بأحد الجبال ، لكن ما هذا ؟ ان شدة الامطار جعلت الحجارة تتحرك من مكانها وتسقط لتسد باب المغارة ؟
أخذت الحيوانات تصرخ وكل منهم يحاول البحث عن مخرج من هذا المكان وفي هذا الوقت مر حمار بري بجانب الجبل فسمع صراخهم اسرع الحمار ليخبر باقي الحيوانات بالامر فأسرعوا الى المغارة
أخذ بعضهم يتساءل عما يستطيع فعله من اجل مساعدة الحيوانات المحبوسة في المغارة . ثم تقدم الفيل الكبير وأخذ يحاول ابعاد الحجارة الكبيرة من امام فتحة المغارة ، ولكن مازالت الحجارة كبيرة وثقيلة ! حاولت باقي الحيوانات مساعدة الفيل الكبير في ابعاد الاحجار ولكن لم يستطع احدهم زحزتها
وظل الفيل يجر بصعوبة حجرا وراء الاخر حتى شعر بالتعب الشديد واخذ العرق يتصبب من جسده ولكن ظل يجتهد فيما يفعله ،ومر وقت طويل حتى نجح الفيل اخيرا في زحزحه الحجارة وفتح المغارة وخرجت الحيوانات
وفي المساء اقامت الحيوانات حفلا كبيرا للفيل الكبير على العمل العظيم الذي قدمه في انقاذ الحيوانات ، واخذ كل حيوان منهم يقدم له الشكر ، ثم اقتربت منه العصفورة وقالت له ، انا الذي احسدك الان ايها الفيل فقد قمت بعمل لا استطيع انا او اى حيوان اخر القيام به ، ابتسم الفيل وقد تأكد ان له دورا هاما في الحياة

One day, the rain was severe and the cold was freezing, so many animals rushed to hide in a cave in a mountain, but what is this? The intensity of the rain caused the stones to move from their place and fall to block the door of the cave?
The animals started screaming, and all of them were trying to find a way out from this place, and at this time a wild donkey passed by the mountain and heard their cry. The donkey hurried to inform the other animals about the matter, so they hurried to the cave.
Some of them began to wonder what they could do to help the animals trapped in the cave. Then the big elephant advanced and started trying to push away the big stones in front of the opening of the cave, but the stones were still big and heavy! The rest of the animals tried to help the big elephant to push the stones away, but no one could move them
The elephant kept dragging one stone after another until he felt very tired and sweat started pouring from his body, but he kept working hard on what he was doing, and a long time passed until the elephant finally succeeded in moving the stones and opening the cave and the animals came out
In the evening the animals held a big party for the big elephant for the great work he did in saving the animals, and every animal took from them to give him thanks, then the bird approached him and said to him, “I am the one who envies you now, elephant, for I have done something that neither I nor any other animal can do The elephant smiled and was confirmed to have an important role in life
