بنى الحاج عتريس بيتا على مشارف القرية ، ولم يكن بجوار بيته الا قليل من المنازل لاناس جاؤوا من المدينة هربا من زحامها بعدما ضاقت بهم ، وضاقوا بها
لم يكن أحد من جيران الحاج عتريس يربي طيورا منزلية ، لانهم كانوا من أهل المدينة ، بينما كانت ام السعد زوجة الحاج عتريس من المغرمين بتربية الطيور
اشترت ام السعد عشرة من الكتاكيت واعتنت بهم ، وكان زوجها يشتري لهم طعامهم من القرية فلما كبروا وجدت ام السعد ان فيهم ديكا واحدا بينما الباقي كله دجاج
أخبرت ام السعد الحاج عتريس بالامر ، فقال لها : هذا خير فالدجاج مهم في انتاج البيض ، ويكفي ديك واحد من اجل حماية باقي الدجاج وانتاج كتاكيت اخرى
كبر ديك البراري ، فكان هو الديك الوحيد في منزل الحاج عتريس ، بل ان هو الديك الوحيد في المنطقة كلها ، فلم يكن في المنازل المجاورة ديك غيره
وجد الديك نفسه يؤذن كل ليلة قبل اذان الفجر ، ثم يستيقظ الناس ليصلوا ، فاعتقد انه هو السبب في ايقاظ الناس ولولاه ما استيقظ الناس ولا صلوا الفجر
كبر الدجاج وبدأ يبيض فكانت ام السعد تجمع ذلك البيض وتسلق بعضه وتقلي بعضه وتعمل ببعضه شكشوكة وعجة واحيانا تصنع منه كيكة لذيذه الطعم
بعد فترة رقدت احدى الدجاجات على البيض ففرحت ام السعد بالدجاجة التى رقدت ، فمعنى ذلك انه سيكون عندها كتاكيت جديدة بعد فترة من الزمن
اعتنت ام السعد بالدجاجة عناية كبيرة ، وبعد مرور ايام كثيرة فقس البيض ، وخرجت منه كتاكيت كثرة فراحت ام السعد تعتنى بهم ترعاهم بجانب امهم
كبرت الكتاكيت الجديدة وبدأ يظهر فيها عدد من الديوك الى جانب بعض الدجاج واحتاجت ام السعد بعض المال فطلبت من زوجها ان يبيع الديك القديم
اخذ الحاج عتريس الديك وذهب به الى سوق القرية ، وعرضه للبيع ، فجاء رجل يحتاج الى ديك للدجاج الذي عنده ، فاستراه وانطلق به الى بيته
قال الديك في نفسه ، عجبا ، كيف يرضى الحاج عتريس ببيعي وانا الذي اوقظ الناس لصلاة الفجر ، عموما سوف اكون وحدى من يوقظ اهل القرية لصلاة الفجر
في أول ليلة ، خرج الديك اخر الليل ليؤذن فسمع صياح الديوك في القرية تتعالى من كل الارجاء ، فسأل دجاجة : هل هناك ديك يؤذن غيري ؟
قالت الدجاجة : القرية مليئة بالديوك مثلك بل افضل منك ، فقال الديك : كنت اظن اننى وحدى الذي استطيع ان اؤذن ، فقالت له : هكذا كل مغرور !!
عرف الديك انه واحد من الالف الديوك التى تؤذن .. فصفق بجناحيه ، ومد عنقه ، وصاح عاليا فاتحد صوته بأصوات الديوك ، وبزغ الفجر الجميل وقام الناس للصلاة

Haji Atris built a house on the outskirts of the village, and there were only a few houses next to his house for people who came from the city to escape its congestion after it became too narrow for them.
None of the neighbors of Hajj Atris kept poultry, because they were from the city, while Umm Al-Saad, the wife of Hajj Atris, was one of those fond of raising birds
Umm Al-Saad bought ten chicks and took care of them, and her husband used to buy them their food from the village. When they grew up, Umm Al-Saad found that they had one rooster while the rest were all chickens.
Umm Al-Saad told Al-Hajj Atris about the matter, and he said to her: This is good. Chickens are important in producing eggs, and one rooster is sufficient to protect the rest of the chickens and produce other chicks.
The wild rooster had grown up, so he was the only rooster in the house of Haji Atris, but he was the only rooster in the whole area, so there was no other rooster in the neighboring houses.
The rooster found himself calling every night before the dawn call to prayer, then people woke up to pray, so he thought that he was the reason for people to wake up, and without him people would not wake up or pray Fajr
The chicken grew and started to lay eggs, so Umm al-Saad collected those eggs and boiled some of them and fried some of them, and together they made a shakshoka and an omelette, and sometimes she made a delicious cake from it
After a while one of the hens lay on the eggs, and Umm Al-Saad rejoiced over the hen that had fallen asleep, which means that he will have new chicks after a period of time
Umm Al-Saad took great care of the hen, and after many days the eggs hatched, and the chicks came out of him in abundance, so Umm Al-Saad took care of them, taking care of them beside their mother
The new chicks grew up, and a number of roosters appeared next to some chickens, and Umm Al-Saad needed some money, so she asked her husband to sell the old rooster.
Haji Atris took the rooster and took it to the village market, and offered it for sale, so a man came who needed a rooster for the chickens he had, so he found it and took it to his house
The rooster said to himself, How strange, how is Haji Atris willing to sell me when I wake people up for Fajr prayer? Generally speaking, I will be the only one who wakes up the people of the village for Fajr prayer
On the first night, the rooster came out at the end of the night to call the call to prayer, and he heard the roosters shouting in the village from all over the place. He asked a chicken: Is there a rooster calling someone else?
The hen said: The village is full of roosters like you, but better than you. The rooster said: I thought that I was the only one who could make the call to prayer, so she said to him: This is how every conceited one !!
The rooster knew that it was one of the thousand roosters that call to prayer .. So it clapped its wings, extended its neck, and shouted loudly, combining its voice with the sounds of the roosters, and the beautiful dawn dawned and the people rose to pray
